Reizēm man tas patīk – šķiet, ka viņi ir no manas planētas.

Man bija traki auksti.

Music – Nena Daconte (cheers sis’)

So cheesy, so banal, so true that it almost makes me sick – as time goes on, things that have been taken away start to have added value. They become more worthy and valuable, and appreciable.
Appreciate the sun, because there are places in the world where they don’t have it for months.
Appreciate the 24/7 internet connection.
Appreciate your daily newspaper in your own language. I get to read it twice a year now.
Appreciate your families.
It is so weird how a human being is so capable to adapt to one kind of things, but becomes so unbelievably unstretchable when it comes to another kind of things. And there are even things out there to which all the lifetime won’t be enough.

Greenlandic people don’t talk much. Sometimes I like it- it seems that we are from the same planet. Other times that confuses me – we, those ones from “the western world/culture”, are so stuck in mostly using words for the communication. I look at these people, and it seems again, that talking is… overrated. Yes, a word has its power, but sometimes just a look, face expression or silent sitting next to each other is enough. They are people of movement and simple being together. And they have the most disarming smiles I have ever seen.

Yesterday Matias and Kristi took us fishing. Half an hour walk on the ice and a wind that blew my soul somewhere out there. Frozen infinity. After standing out there for 10 minutes and pulling a fishing string monotonly Mad got the first fish in her life – a charming ocean creature with flat head and lovely spins. You couldn’t feed an army with that, and we also didn’t try to repeat Jesus’ tricks, but with that (and the 2 other ones we caught) it will be enough for soup.
And then I went home. It got freaking cold.

Yesterday Courtenay and I were also in a Greenlandic blues-rock (rock-blues?) concert. It was nice – just like in high school times. A small culture-centre-house, a stage with a curtain and painted pictures in the walls. And all-age audience – from thirteen year olds, who are too cool to hang on the same side of the hall with other people, to moms, who drink coke and clap their hands along the music. It was so much fun. We laughed and danced, and were the only 2 blonds in two hundred people crowd. Guys played very good. Very Greenlandic and in a high musical level.

Question of a week – how much the place where you are says something about who you are? Is that place your added value? Hm?
